About the Show

WHOOP DEE DOO presents a live, immersive variety show as part of Second Sundays. Inspired by public access television and game shows from the 1970s–1990s, the Main Hall is transformed into a multi-stage TV set activated by live performance, projection, and audience interaction.

This performance is the culmination of a six-week workshop and internship series led by WHOOP DEE DOO artists with Red Hook youth, supported in partnership with Red Hook Art Project, Red Hook Initiative, and Red Hook Community Justice Center. Under WHOOP DEE DOO’s guidance, participants developed the show from the ground up: generating ideas, shaping the structure and design, constructing props from recycled materials, and creating performances through ongoing experimentation.

Working in a fast-paced, collaborative process, participants quickly moved ideas to realization, producing original material for this performance. The final performance highlights their creations alongside contributions from invited collaborators, including Colin Self, Kilynn Lunsford, Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, Daniel Ballesteros, and Claywoman.
