OUR STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS

Founded in 2006, WHOOP DEE DOO is an artist-led organization that creates live performances and immersive installations as part of an extensive community engagement initiative. We work to support and amplify our collaborators' unique and important contributions and the power of the collective.

Our programming is designed to welcome our collaborators as fully engaged participants by creating spaces that are accessible to people of all ages and skill levels. WHOOP DEE DOO believes that collaborative art-making creates meaningful conversations that bring our communities together.

The above graphic shows the basic steps of our process working with institutions, youth collaborators and performance groups. Through each project is crafted from scratch as we work with our partnering organization, this is the general process by which we follow from beginning to end.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS

WHOOP DEE DOO’s partnerships prioritize: 

  • The immediate and long-term goals of our partnering organizations.

  • Determining the educational and artistic goals of our collaborating youth, community, and performance groups.

  • Creating an inviting, inclusive, and exciting participatory environment.

  • Practicing extensive community outreach to welcome and invite new audiences 

  • Creating programming for new student engagement opportunities between our partnering organizations and youth groups, after-school programs, young adult programs, and more. 

  • Initiating new and lasting connections within communities that often last well beyond our stay 

Through conversation, research, and planning we work with partnering organizations, institutions, and community centers to establish new connections with local youth and performers, constructing programming that is both intergenerational and inclusive.

WHOOP DEE DOO crafts our programming to fit the needs and wants of our partnering institutions. Our programs and final projects vary greatly, and the ideas and outcomes are based on the ideas of the youth and community we collaborate with starting the day we arrive in your city!
